Episode Synopsis

 

• We open up by talking about our sad obsession with incredibly boring video games.
• Chris transitions to discuss the spiritual connections he's been making with the 3 primary roles most people will experience in life relating to the family unit (child, spouse, and parent), and how our culture is polluting those roles.
• Ronnie from the Broken Record Ministries podcast joins the conversation (fashionably late) and discusses his struggle with balancing promotion of the work God has given him (such as with the podcast) and being guilty of just promoting himself.
  • This leads to a discussion on the importance of community, trusted "fail-safes", and maintaining the fulness of love and truth (not one at the expense of the other).
• Chris brings up for discussion his analogy of spiritual "transplanting", as an addendum to the popular concept of "planting seeds".
• At time of recording, we all recently attended a Christian men's conference with Tim Tebow as the keynote speaker.  We discuss our own personal highlights and takeaways from that experience to conclude the episode.

In this episode, the round-table is joined by the real bosses of the podcast. Wives of some of the podcasters join in the discussion. What's the topic? How has God changed you? Listen in as all give their answers for themselves as well as each other. Now reflect on yourselves and ask yourself that same very question. How has God changed you?

• Carl plays an unpublished off-air discussion with Grace from a previous week about Dino Nuggets to make a humorous connection with this week's discussion topic:
  • Does our inward substance match our outward show?
  • We discuss the need for sanctification to begin in the heart.
• We read through and discuss the 3rd chapter of Philippians.
  • Paul is not pitting the Law of God against the Grace of God here.
    • He is explaining how they relate to one another in the heart of a believer who TRUSTS in God.
  • Was Paul's "thorn" (2 Corinthians 12:7) a struggle with doubt?
    • How does this possibility contrast with our trust?
  • Paul is pointing us toward transformation of our inward substance.
    • The Commandments we obey don't necessarily change — we do.
    • It is not the definition of righteousness that Paul is addressing, but our means to attaining it. 
• Carl closes with a picture of the sort of sanctification and transformation we have discussed as given in the 3rd chapter of Zechariah, then Chris explains the process of remolding broken pots using the analogy of the Living Water (Jesus) applied to soften the clay (us).

In this episode the round-table talk about different ways to submit. Are we submitting or are we just giving in? Different points of views and different takes on this one makes for a great conversation.

Forgive and Then Forget?

In this episode, the round-table talk about the importance of Forgiveness. How hard it is to forgive and especially how hard it is to Forgive AND Forget. That's the human side right? Forgive, sure sure. Forget? Ummm well let's hold up a second, but Jesus did. God does. So why can't we? Why is it so hard?!

This week we discuss Acts 14:22, and what it means to us to "enter into the Kingdom through many hardships."
